Sophie Stone’s work can empirically be described as both rug and painting. Her pieces occupy both positions equally, existing in a state of functional ambiguity. When implemented as a rug, with all of the foot traffic that entails, her works are compositions that welcome entropy. As paintings, they are fixed, hung on the wall isolated. Her formal frameworks and visual mimicries available for consideration.
